26. The survey section was employed until 4 Mar 68 in establishing the 3 RAR mortar platoon on theatre grid, which was then carried to an alternate mortar position. A theatre grid BP was established at FSB HERRING (YS 4955) within an hour of the last sortie arriving at station. In addition, theatre grid survey was carried to the second battery location at the HORSESHOE.

Op Cooktown Orchid
27. Survey training continued throughout the period in both field work and computations.
28. TOPO survey have established a liaison link with the survey section, and any BP we establish is included in their overall control of the TAOR and are attempting to obtain photographic survey control of all areas.

Sound Ranging
29. Plans and preparations have been completed for the construction of SRG C.P. in the Det locale. Work should commence about the middle of next month, and be completed in time to receive equipment on arrival in theatre.

Manning
30. The replacement programme has not been adhered to and the Det is 9 men short. Possibly these members will arrive next month, but this unit should be informed of any delays to the replacement schedule.
