Survey/Sound Ranging 9. During reporting period five FSPB have been provided with theatre grid. This included FSPB WATTLE (YT 2501) which has been occupied previously but had only been fixed by map spot. Continued emphasis has been placed on the need to establish a BP some distance from the perimeter of an FSPB so that the BP avoids destruction when the base is levelled when it is abandoned.
The Sound Ranging base continues to operate effectively with minimum induction problems in the base, however towards the end of the reporting period the main signals trunk cable which provides several Sound Ranging lines was fractured by Engineer plant. The base has therefore been out of action for some days whilst repairs are taking place.
